Plans Change

This is week 3 of the One Room Challenge of which I am a Guest Participant. I am so excited about this room I chose to make over - my home office!  As I’ve said before this room has been neglected for a long time and with the shut down and then a new puppy I found myself working most of the time in my Living room. The thought of making this room function well and look beautiful just makes me so happy.

One of the starting points of this room was the paint colors. I do not always start with the paint color but for this room the color was most important. I wanted “my color” (Sherwin Williams SW6566 Framboise) to be the backs of the upper cabinets. So with white cabinets(SW7006 Extra White trim) I wanted a nice soft neutral for the walls (SW7051 Analytical Gray) All of the colors are on brand and I love it!

The original design was to have my desk/counter be connected to the wall cabinets and be like a peninsula. Well, plans changed with the purchase of stock cabinets. But, that gave me the option of doing whatever kind of table/desk that I wanted 😃. I loved the idea of a dining table, something old, probably painted. After some shopping and looking at ideas I landed on something completely different - a live edge slab with flat steel bent legs powder coated in gold. I love the organic nature of the wood with the clean simple lines of my cabinets. This look just works so well!  No, it’s not what I had planned but I think the changes are even better than the original plan.

Shopping for the slab was so much fun! We have a wonderful resource here called West Penn Woods. I took my brother to help me select a slab, (since he is helping me with my project). We found so many beautiful things but we finally landed just the right piece. I will be using a stain to enhance the wood but also blend well with the other colors in the room.

It is coming together! Love, love seeing progress. Three weeks down, 5 to go!

Blessings,
